ORCTV is a nonprofit, non commercial Public, Education and Government access television center.
Mission
ORCTV's mission is to provide the communities of Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester with training, facilities and access to the local access channels. Programs will be provided for and by the citizens, governments and schools of the tri towns to enrich the community while facilitating an exchange of ideas and information. Essential in our service to the communities is a focus on supporting the educational and governmental access programs.
Support of the mission is as follows:
" Educate the public in the use of equipment and the facility for purposes of enrichment, community involvement and programming.
" Encourage open communication of information and ideas while facilitating diversity.
" Provide sound management and financial strategies to support the needs and goals of the Center.
About Us
The Board of Directors formed an Education Task Force under the leadership of Director, Susan Hayward McAvoy. The Task Force consists of members representing each of the schools providing education to students of the Tri-town area (see member list below). The Task Force which meets at regularly scheduled times is charged with formulating a Mission Statement, creating training opportunities for professionals in their respective schools, establishing policies for the channel, making technology,, available to students in those schools and recommending programming for the education channel.
To accomplish the mission of its ETV channel, the ORCTV Board of Directors provides annual funding for a teaching position at Old Rochester Regional High School. The person (persons) in that role will teach a course in television production and will serve as the conduit for all programming to air on the education channel.Furthermore they have provided a working studio in the school.
